Thick breakfast cereal prepared by mealie meal. Most people prefer the porridge flavoured with peanut butter (dovi), baobab powder(mawuyu), sour maheu (maheu akavira), butter, lemon, huchi (honey), mukaka(milk).
- Add 2 cups of water
- (Optional) Add a dash of salt into a pot.
- Bring the water to boil
- Add one and half maize meal to cold water and make a paste
- Add the paste into the boiling water
- Simmer for at least 20 minutes, continually stirring every five minutes
- (Optional) Add sugar into the porridge
- (Optional) Add the flavourant(see the flavourant options above) into the pot
- Simmer for at least 7 more minutes
